I cannot even begin to express how amazing it feels to sit down and write again.
*deep inhale* We got lots to talk about.
Like many previous posts where I foam at the mouth with apologies of my absence, I must say, this absence was much more significant (for you AND me), and as a result, I feel that you deserve not an admission of guilt but rather an explanation. ‘Twas not for a lack of motivation, a lack of interest, or a lack of topic, but a lack of time due to career propulsion.
Whew, what a sentence!
I have been approached, e-mailed, and messaged on a variety of media by a variety of my readers/followers/friends. This has warmed and torn my heart.
I feel like I failed you as I served myself, but you know what…
sometimes you just gotta do that.
If you’ve been following my Instagram (@fortheloveofexperience) you’ll know that I have been a busy bee igniting the first steps of my dreams to becoming a well-rounded anthropologist. I began excavating in a cultural resources management project on the base where we reside, followed immediately by a two-month trek through Okinawa’s densest jungle. I had a freakin’ ball, but let me tell you, that is something entirely for its own post. Keep your eyes peeled, but not too hard… because I’m now writing reports for the previous excavation, preparing for our next excavation, and playing mom and wife at home. *insert massive thumbs up* Cool.
Mom and wife? Heh. Loaded words.
Currently, we are balls-deep in the middle of Terrible Two’s with the most intelligent, charming, sensitive, hardass little girl. They days are long, but the years are short, and I wouldn’t change it for a second even if I sometimes daydream of setting her on fire.
Okay, so that last part was a joke (or was it…? I’ll leave you to decide.), but parenting is hard, and it’s even harder when your Miss (or Mister) Independent is totally ready to pottytrain but doesn’t fully grasp the concept 100% of the time. (Yet another topic we need to discuss on its own!) So that’s fun.
Finally, our family has decided on our next location. I guess you can tell by that decision that our time on Okinawa is dwindling down to nothing. We are going to spend a lot of time exploring, eating, and hiking before all the crazy commences in a few months and things get super serious.
Anyway, I wanted to keep this moderate in length, but give you a heads-up that I’m baaaaack.
And oooooh, did I have a fantastic idea last night at one of the local markets.
